Thank you for another great week at Chambers! I enjoyed seeing some of you at the PTA meeting at Mod Pizza last night. I was able to share information about volunteer opportunities that allow for parents to participate in supporting the school while maintaining high levels of student safety. While primary schools in UPSD will not have volunteers in classrooms, there are a variety of other ways for parents to be involved. We have the health screening and book fair right around the corner and the PTA helps coordinate volunteers for these events. There will also be field trips this year so be on the lookout for information from your child’s teacher about volunteering to chaperone. Teachers may need help with specific projects that can be picked up and worked on at home and they will communicate that need through their weekly communications. We will continue to look for ways to include families and we are appreciative of your support.

Warmly,

Mrs. Gann

Assistant Principal’s Message

Hello Chambers Families! Thank you for your continued partnership this week. We have put our restorative practice work in full swing this week. It has been wonderful to see students responding, communicating, and explaining their thoughts and feelings, working toward problem-solving healthily. We are starting to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month next week, and I wanted to share some excellent family resources with you. In addition, we will be learning about and highlighting some very influential Hispanic community members this upcoming month. I encourage you to ask your students to share their learning with you. Here is a link that reads aloud the story of Cesar Chavez. Cesar Chavez was a Mexican American labor leader and civil rights activist. He dedicated his life's work to what he called la cause (the cause): the struggle of farm workers in the United States to improve their working and living conditions. You can access more information about Hispanic Heritage Month here and Good Morning America did an introduction of the celebration here. Our wonderful librarian, Mrs. Morgan has also provided a few resources that you can access here and here.

Thank you for patterning with me this week!

We are excited to announce we added a translation feature on our PTA website for commonly spoken languages at Chambers. This was done as part of our efforts to make the PTA and school information more accessible to everyone. We will also be posting the weekly Principal Newsletter on the website as well. Check it out: Chambers Primary School | Chambers Primary PTA | United States Thank you to all those who attended our Bliss Ice Cream and MOD fundraisers. They were huge successes and we hope you enjoyed pizza and ice cream. Our next fundraiser starts on October 3 and more information will be sent out next week. Have a great week!!
